About Me

Code, coffee and politics. That is what I am about.

At the moment I am working at Fintiba GmbH in Frankfurt as a Python/Django developer. Bevor that I was studying Political Science at the Goethe University Frankfurt. I got into software development during my studies through statistical analysis and quantitative research.

I have a passion for good coffee and if you want to do me a favor invite me over coffee! Show me your favorite spot :)

Software Development

I have been programming in Python (and other technologies) now for over 5 and over 2 years professionally. Professionally I am most comforable with monolithic Django setups.

In my free time I take time to explore different programming languages and (web) technologies. I had a good look at Swift, Rust and Go for example. Of course I also dove into frontend development. This website should be a testament to that.

Data Analysis

In university I got into statistical analysis and R. I really enjoyed it and eventually wrote my Bachelors Thesis using R to analyse a dataset. The code of my BA can be found further down in the Projects section. Besides that I got into touch with analyzing texts (Text Mining) and gathering data through web scraping. Some of the projects are down below.

Projects

Bachelor Thesis

In my Bachelors Thesis I analysed how identity influences the individuals attitude towards three different pillars of the EU integration process. To realize the analysis I used the R programming language and the Eurobarometer 92.3 dataset. I can not put up the whole Bachelors Thesis due to plagiarism concerns.

Mealmaster file parser for V7/8

After finding dozent of old recipes in a data dump online I wrote this parser to extract them.

It worked well and I was able to retrieve about 150.000 recipes from parts of the dump.

Hunger Games Text Mining

After working through the book 'Text Mining using R: A tidy approach' I used the techniques learned to analyze my favourite trilogy. At the time of doing the analysis the prequel book was not out.

Experience

Backend Developer - Fintiba GmbH (2022 - Present)

Backend development using a standard Python stack (Django, MySQL, Celery, Docker).

At Fintiba it is my job to develop and maintain the insurance products. This includes customer facing code, internal tools (mainly functions for the internal customer manager) as well as developing and integrating interfaces with our insurance partners. Thousands of customers as well as coworkers hence depend on the code written by me to be correct and working. Concise, readable and correct code is of the essence, to keep the customers and customer support agents happy.

Fitness Trainer - FitSevenEleven GmbH (2020 - 2022)

Developing and teaching customized fitness plans as well as customer care/trainings assistance and minor administrative tasks.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Political Science (Major) and American Studies (Minor) (2018-2022)

Foundational education in Political Science (economics, philosophy, research methodology and many more aspects) with a specialization in quantitative research and analysis. Wrote my Bachelors Thesis on the impact of the individuals identity on the attitudes towards different integration areas of the EU. To achieve this task I analyzed the Eurobarometer 92.3 open data set issued by the European Commission using the R programming language.

You can see the code in the Projects above.
